The reason that the pope could come to Lewiston is due to the location of the Maine Basilica. It’s located in an interesting part of Lewiston. And it doesn’t really look like its belongs because it is this gorgeous Cathedral surrounded by houses that appear as if they have not been up kept.
So during exams, my friend dragged me to it to take photos for his photography project. Of course I delightedly agreed to go, knowing I would be able to take pictures of something other than the Bates Campus. Enjoy the photography of the facade of the Maine Basilica.

Right now weather wise it feels and looks like the perfect time of the year. The leaves are changing color, there is that dieing leaves smell around (ie smells like fall), and it is getting colder but still not to cold. I still like the winter better (I love snow). I actually use to not really like fall at all, but I don’t remember why. Here in Maine, fall and winter are at a constant struggle to impress me with their beauty. So here is my first fall picture of fall 2009. ( I posted a fall picture previously from last fall.)

…that’s what it looks like here in Maine when the leaves begin to change colors. All the colors are so vibrant and bright that it looks AMAZING and beautiful. I have only experienced one fall like this, since I am from Ohio, it isn’t as pretty, and I look forward to this upcoming one.

The quality of this picture (focus) is a little sketchy because my point and shoot isn’t the best camera in the world. So this past winter a HUGE ice storm came through my campus covering EVERYTHING in ice, leaves, trees, bikes, etc. Pretty much everything that was outside. It gave the entire campus a BEAUTIFUL crystallized feeling about it.

It happened the night before this picture was taken so the campus had more of a erie feel that crystallized. So was w back to my form and found the bike rack covered in ice and ice crystals. I put the bike rack diagonally across the picture to make it more interesting then just straight on.

Sorry if it seems that I have been MIA lately but I really just have been VERY VERY VERY busy. Its the end of the school year so I have had a lot of packing, a lot of moving, and a lot of finishing projects up thus running around school.
Since it had been so long and I am sitting here uploading slides (once again) I lot I would make a post.

The title of the post does not refer to me, but more the objects in the picture. The boat’s stern had completely fallen off and the lobster traps look like they are no longer needed. I love the objects in the picture because it gives out a very rustic feel to the picture. Enjoy!

I don’t really have much to say about this picture except the cool shapped rock that is the subject. And it was taken at Coos Canyon in Maine on the first field trip we had.

well I just did, and they are BEAUTIFUL! I mean AMAZING!!! INDESCRIBABLE! They are such a unique experience between the mist and the noise that cannot be recreated. Angel Falls was the first waterfall (besides Niagra) that I think I have seen (I don’t remember everything from when I was a little kid) and it was beautiful. As the largest waterfall in Maine it is 30 yards high. We hiked through the woods, and through the stream (literally through) and got to the falls. It was definitely worth my ice cold feet.
This picture is my final project. The digital camera rebel I was using had to strong of a magnification to be able to take a picture of the whole thing so the only full picture I have is pieced together by 5 different closeups of different sections of the falls. (I love doing this with different things even when I can take a full picture of it).
Enjoy!

So I was a littler nervous coming to Maine with the weather. I am from north-east Ohio and we have seasons, winter=snow, spring =rain and flowers, summer=heat, fall=becoming cold and changing leaves. Its not exactly beautiful all year around, mainly winter becomes really gross looking and fall isn’t take your breathe away colors. After being here for 3 our of the four seasons, I believe that Maine really is beautiful all year round. Spring it is gorgeous and the right colors. Winter is a white sparkling blanket that as long as it isn’t melting makes everything look amazing. And Fall is….COLORFUL! I never realized what fall would be like until I went through one, it was ideal. So here is a picture I took this past October.
