Sunday Still: Holiday Lights and Decorations

December 19, 2009 · 12 Comments

This is my first Sunday Still from Cleveland, so I decided to take pictures of our Christmas tree. The first picture of an old wooden ornament. And the second is of a white light in the branches. These were really hard pictures to take because I took them after the sun had gone there and I was only using artificial light.

Firenze Hot Spots!

December 18, 2009 · 6 Comments

I made it back to Cleveland safely after a very crazy time of traveling and almost missing all but my first flights, and being walked through the airport by two Alitalia workers (let me know if you want the long story). During one of my last few days in Florence I walked through the city and took pictures of the famous buildings because I realized I had not taken good ones because I kept just telling myself “I have time”. And then I didn’t have time, so the pictures needed to be taken. The first is of il Duomo with the Baptistery in the corner, the second is of Palazzo Vecchio, and the last is the Ponte Vecchio at set.

Il Duomo and Stanta Croce Love!

December 15, 2009 · 1 Comment

So this title sounds like an album title on facebook. :/ Anyway but it really describes this picture and my semester. As I have said before my host family lives about two blocks away from the Duomo, therefore I tend to meet people there and spend time around it. From there we often go to Santa Croce, where there are plenty of bars and plenty of Sausages at the different markets. I as my departure day grows closer I have to decided to post a picture I took at the beginning of the semester when my host family took me to Piazza Michelangelo of Il Duomo and Santa Croce.

Sunday Stills: Techonology

December 12, 2009 · 21 Comments

I’m really excited about this Sunday Still because for it I actually did a photo shot where I set stuff up. The first picture is my electronic things that I never leave the house with out: they’re my technology of choice. A camera, a cell phone, and an ipod. So these technological inventions have been great for my life however they come with tones of wires and the occasional problems and the aspect of learning to use them. So the second picture is all the cords I have with me in Italy to help my technology function properly!

Au Revoir Paris!

December 11, 2009 · 4 Comments

So I can almost count my days left in Europe on one hand so I thought I would do a post on my favorite city in Europe: Paris! (This will also be my last Paris Post until I return) I’ve been to Paris now three times and I could return a million more times. From the architecture, to the food, to the plenty Starbucks Coffee shops to the art. I went twice this semester, once over my fall break and once with my sister to visit my cousin and aunt and uncle (who were also visiting my cus.) Both times were great and I took tons of pictures. Here’s a combination of pictures from both trips.

And the Food Continues

December 9, 2009 · 8 Comments

So to continue my posts about food in Italy I’m posting a collage of some of my different food (cibo) pictures (I’ll actually post the spice pictures at a later time because they’re some of my favorites I have taken.) To make this collage I used the collage option on picasa 3 and mixed the pictures until it produced an order I really liked. From top to bottom the food is Parmesan cheese (formaggio!) different spices, cannoli, sausages, salt, and garlic.

Ancient Roma

December 8, 2009 · 9 Comments

So during my over night trip to Rome we did an Ancient Rome walk where we began at the Colosseum, walked through the Roman Forum (I sat where they place Julius Ceaser’s Body, the oldest thing I have touched) and ended at the Pantheon. Here are some pictures from that walk in order of the walk.

Sunday Stills: Pets

December 6, 2009 · 17 Comments

I had to dig through the archives for this weeks Sunday Stills. This is my dog Dalton and I took it when I was home last November for Thanksgiving Break. I miss him so much, and whenever I skype with my parents, my mom calls him in the room and I yell his name, and sometimes he responds and looks a little confused. I miss my dog so much and I’m excited to posting a picture of him for the one year anniversary of Sunday Stills.

Night Shots

December 5, 2009 · 6 Comments

Europe does a really nice job lighting their monuments. I’ve noticed in Florence I always end up near these monuments late at night and they’re always so well lit. It’s made me really focus on improving the steadiness of my hands when taking shots. (Also, using things around me as a temporary tri-pod.) Here are some of my night shots (some with the D 40 and some with my point and shot.)

Sweet Tooth

December 1, 2009 · 9 Comments

Have you eaten Italian food? I have to say it’s the best food I have ever eaten. We begin every night usually with a pasta dish followed by meet with vegetables or potatoes. But the best part of it all, is that there are little markets where food vendors come and sell food items. A little over a week ago my friends and I went to this food market that had food stalls from all over Italy. This is where I took my Torino Sausage photograph.  I took these two pictures below are food from a bakery from Sicily. The first is caramelized fruit and the second is cannoli.
