I Swear All I do is Study

December 11, 2008 · 4 Comments

…and take breaks and play on photoshop…and go and take pictures.

So I didn’t exactly hide my camera during this past week and a half. My friend (who I am trying to convince to get a wordpress photo blog because he is really good) dragged me to the Maine Basilica to take photos for his photoshop project and then he did something really cool with the photos that I wanted to try. I am not quite sure what exactly it is, but its cool. This also prompted me to make him put photo shop 7 on my computer. So when I took a much needed break from studying (I was feel like all I was doing was sleep, study, eat, study, eat, study sleep…repeat) I began playing around this new version of photoshop.

And I made this picture: “The Sun Stole the Water”

Purple Fall Leaves

November 22, 2008 · 2 Comments

So fall is beautiful here in Maine but not unrealistic. Purple leaves are some what unrealistic. Yet this pictures does have purple/ pink leaves in it. That’s because I photoshoped it. I took out some of the yellow that was in the picture which left the leaves as a purple color. The tree was originally yellow so I  was a little surprised at first when there was still a fair amount of color left. The purple is really nice and the picture looks cooler because of it.

The Red Apple

November 20, 2008 · 10 Comments

This photo I took in the fall when I went apple picking with my families.

I like how it was a lone apple and because of fact that is was the only non-green item in the photo it stood out. But I wanted it to stand out even more. I took the picture and opened it twice on photo shop. On one of them I decreased the saturation of the picture so it was very very light. Almost as if I had colored it in my self with colored pencils. With the other one I cut out the apple and pasted it onto the one with the decreased saturation.

This was the result:

Back to Photoshop

November 18, 2008 · 4 Comments

So exactly a month ago I posted this photo So I have taken the same photo and played around with a filter in photoshop, one of my favorite ways to past time. I’m still a little unsure of what each filter will do to a picture so I tested each one out and decided to use the palette knife.

I like the photo shop version better not because it looks cooler but because of what it does to the focus of the photo. It creates a larger contrast between the colors and focus in the foreground and those of the background. The hand reaching for the watch are much brighter. Furthermore the lense has made the photo have a much more metallic feel not loosing that this is a statue (my guess is made of Bronze).

Flower “Sketch”

October 26, 2008 · 3 Comments

This is a picture I took of a fake rose on my bed, originally taken in black and white. The way the black and white played out on it with the shadows I thought the picture might look nice if Iput a charcoal/chalk filter on it.

Color Saturation!!!!

June 13, 2008 · 1 Comment

Sorry about the MIA…my computer was still broken…where almost all my pictures were. So I’m back with a practically brand new computer. (I didn’t even have to send it to dell).

This post is dedicated to something you can do in photoshop…color saturation (I got the idea from my friend Eliza.)

The original picture:

The next is saturated with red light. A quick physics lesson. “Colored” light is made up of red, green, and blue. Mixed together they make different colors. When no color is reflecting its white, when all the colors are reflecting it makes black (I think this is how I remember it…think about it makes sense). Red and and blue make magenta, red and green make tealish, and blue and green make yellow. The picture:

The nextr is satured with blue

The last is when green has been taken away.

Attempt TWO with photoshop

May 11, 2008 · Leave a Comment

So with the picture of the rose the pink is too bright and saturated next to the blacks and grays of the picture. This time I made an attempt at a different picture and I think the result looks a lot more natural.

I really like just leaving the golf cart and the fire hydrant in color because those are the reasons I took the picture.
