Its Cold out… and it has snowed.

January 17, 2009

It is freezing right now in Maine. It has been getting down to the negative teens during the day the last few days. But there is still tons of snow on the ground which almost justifies it.

This set of snowy pictures are not from here in Maine but back home in Cleveland. The day I was originally suppose to have left home, a huge snow storm went through and about a foot fell. So I delayed a day, and used the opportunity to take some of my first outside snow pictures with my camera. I hope you enjoy them.

Now that’s what I call real snow. Absolutely delicious shots.

This much snow is nothing compared to how much there is here in Maine right now. I think we are up to about 2 ft here.

Excellent snow photos; snow is not easy to photograph. I always have difficulty with snow photos even when backing off 1 stop while metering.

The snow is beautiful. I haven’t seen snow like this in years! I miss it terribly. Maybe we’ll get lucky this year and get a little…eh, who am i kidding, we won’t!

    Great shots Maggie. Stay warm.

Tam: where do you live now that it doesnt snow?

    Tam lives in/around Birmingham, AL.

I’m rather fond of the bottom picture of the snow piled up on the railing. I love the swirl and how delicately the snow has accumulated.

    I miss snow like that.

We only get snow like that once every few years and you know where I live.

Yeah, what forkboy said. I live in the South (sigh). I’ve lived in several places actually. But currently, I live in Birmingham (we plan to move to back out west in the next few years)

When Brad and I first got married, we lived in Denver Colorado. Then we moved to the plains in South Dakota. I’ve also lived in California (that’s where I call home). So yeah, I’ve seen some snow. Alabama doesn’t EVER get snow.

I love the look of those red berries against the snow–very nice capture. Here is Massachusetts, our schools have used up all their snowdays, and many are forfeiting Feb. vacation. Looking forward to spring, myself! Mitch
