Squire’s Castle (Spring 2012)

When I went to take pictures the other day after a long vacation, I realized that I still had pictures on my camera that I had taken months prior. Seeing the old pictures, reminded me I hadn’t shared pictures that I had wanted to share. One of these groups was of Squire’s Castle.

Squire’s Castle is a stone building that looks like a castle. It stand on the North Chagrin Reservation (the opposite direction of my beloved South Chagrin Reservation.) The building was built at the turn of the 19th century when the owner of Standard Oil bought a large plot of land and intended for the building to be the gatekeeper’s house. The owner never built anything more than the gatekeeper’s house and it has since become part of the larger metro parks systems.

After hearing about the “castle” I had to go out there and see it for myself. I couldn’t resist taking pictures of it. The building is very beautiful in it’s setting. It was a lot of fun taking pictures of the building and it’s original architecture. Enjoy these pictures from that shoot.
